The Young Communist League is reportedly taking radical stands towards what they refer to as the “heartless” PUTCO Bus Company and their “secret beneficiaries”.
According to the YCL, the transport system provided to communities for the past years by PUTCO has been terrible, disastrous and an insult to the working class and the poor. PUTCO been the only bus transport service provider has monopolies the space.
“Our communities have been struggling for many years without any positive response to their call through Mpumalanga Commuters Organisation (MCO),” claims the organization.
They further claim that Putco Buses are Buses are not safe, unroadworthy and have been delaying the commuters to work for many years that leaded people being expelled from their work. “PUTCO Buses have been involved in many accidents due to the recklessness of the drivers and some of the conditions of the buses,” they added.
In a memorandum submitted to Putco, the YCL has warned the company not to operate from the 1st of July Mpumalanga, Moutse east and West to Gauteng Province.
“Putco is adviced not to Sell tickets from the 27, 28 29 or 30th June 2014, as your Buses won’t be able to transport commuters from and to as usual. All PUTCO Buses will be boycotted or blocked in our roads due to your total dismal failure to properly service our people.
“You’re kindly advised to take all your buses to your safe place. From 1st July 2014 any Bus seen in our roads it will be there at your own risk and we (Transport Steering Committee) won’t be liable to anything might happens to them, due to the information disseminated to the public at large that PUTCO is boycotted,” wrote Cde Sam Masango, Steering Committee Chairperson for the YCL.
