Locals must stop invasions
" We are pleading with the community not to allow any more people to settle in the area because it's going to delay the process further ".

MSHOLOZI – As part of the formalisation processes of this village into a formal township, residents have been warned by Mbombela Local Municipality (MLM)to be vigilant and not to allow any further invasions of the land.
“So far we have been impressed with the social survey, however, we are pleading with the community not to allow any more people to settle in the area because doing so will delay the process further.
“We now have to plan around the figures we already have,” explained the municipal spokesperson, Mr Joseph Ngala.
He also pleaded with the community to work together with the municipality and the town planner until a compromise was found.
He added that the national department of public works had granted MLM the power of attorney to continue with the planning, while the formal processes of formally handing over the land were pending.
The local ward councillor, Cllr Kenneth Mkhonto also sent a stern warning to people who illegally sold other people’s stands in the area.
“We are warning the residents to stop the illegal buying and selling of other people’s stands as we are now going to handle this matter legally. Suspects will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
In the past few weeks the residents had also been enjoying free water services delivered by water tankers in the area which comes as a relief to many who had to walk long distances to fetch water.
“Water will be delivered every Thursday and Saturday,” he said.
Please note: The community is invited to a community meeting this Saturday (July 19) at the local sports ground at 09:00.
