Salubindza 2010 Legacy Soccer Team has received extra support from the Safa Infrastructure Development Foundation to feature young players aged five to 12.
Last Wednesday the national Safa foundation strengthened its development strategies to cover even young players of tomorrow in the Ehlanzeni region. The support encourages children to join and learn to compete on the soccer field.
Nevertheless, the foundation discovered challenges that prevented children from competing, like the fact that they regard the field to be too large for them to play on.
However, they addressed the challenge by giving the soccer team 2X ground roots posts. The children will use them to play within the 18 area during training.
In addition, the support includes 10 size four soccer balls for the young future players, 10 size five soccer balls for under 23 players, 50 bibs, 20 cones and 50 markers to use during training.
The soccer pitch was established three years ago by the foundation to cater and accommodate soccer talent in rural areas. However, Safa Ehlanzeni region is taking advantage of these facilities, to select and help talented players to further their career to a large degree.
“We are currently in the process of selecting talented young players in the region. At the moment we are busy with the u/19 female soccer, where selections will be conducted to choose only the best to play for the region,” said Themba Shiba of Safa Ehlanzeni.
He added that some of them would be offered bursaries to study at the School of Excellence in Johannesburg.
The Safa infrastructure development foundation is adding this support nationally. It has built pitches across the country, focusing on rural areas to give hope to the hopeless and strengthen the support to develop the national players of the future.
