SAPS do it for Mandela

SAPS members in Mpumalanga will join the community in doing community services as part of celebrating Mandela day.

MBOMBELA– Members of the South African Police Service in the province rolled up their sleeves doing community work in honour of 67 Minutes of Mandela Day.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thulani Ntobela announced that police will cleaning doing gardening services and rendering a man power support in the building works taking place at Zamokuhle Disabled Care Centre at eManyeveni near Kabokweni.

In KwaMhlanga the members will donate much needed chairs and tables at a local pre-school as well as clean its premises. In Kanyamazane mebers of the police will spent their 67-minutes cleaning and planting trees at Tenteleni Primary School. A similar activity will also take place place at Tiboneleni Primary School in Pienaar.

Some of the members will in collaboration with Ligwalagwala Fm and Ehlanzeni District Municipality donate of chairs, tables, toys, a television set and promotional material at Marite Orphanage Centre.

“Our police stations will also be providing nearly similar services including donation of blankets, food parcels, painting of centres and other gifts within their various policing areas ,” said Ntobela.

“We are very pleased that as members of the SAPS in the province we will be part of the people and organisations that are trying to make a difference in other people’s lives” he added.
The Mandela day was inspired by former President Nelson Mandela who spent 67 years of his life sacrificing for others in making the world a better place.
