Local pianist aims high

"Iam running a school where I teach pupils starting from the age seven.I offer classes in piano ,guitar ,trumpet and reading music "

“Music is in my blood, especially classical and I’m more than ready to take this type of music to another level,” said pianist, Ernest Tembane who hails from Bhejukufa.

Mpumalanga News learnt that Tembane had branded himself very well in the choral music industry in 2008 when he accompanied several choirs of the province at national level, where they performed well.

“When I started playing the piano, I told myself that I wanted to leave a mark each time I’m given an opportunity to play. I have played for the Army Support Base Mpumalanga (SANDF) at national competitions for close on three years and I also assist local schools because in most cases they can’t read the sheet music,” he explained.

Asked by Mpumalanga News why he chose this type of music, he said,

“Well, classical and opera are unique types of music. They have meaning, you can play with the words the way you want and people still enjoy it. This type of music has shapes and dynamics. It sends a powerful message and unites people because when we are happy, we sing – even when we are mourning, we sing.”

This publication also learnt that to gain more knowledge, he furthered his studies in Portugal. To ensure that his wish of taking music to another level becomes a reality, Tembane is running a local music school in his area. He explains,

“I am running a school where I teach pupils starting from the age of seven. I offer classes in piano, guitar, trumpet and reading music.
“Another thing that puts a smile on my face is seeing young people showing interest because music keeps the mind open and most of the pupils that I have,
are focused, disciplined and are excelling at their school studies.”
