Police commend community for tip off

On Monday, the police found vehicle abandoned after they received a tip-off from a member of the community.

TONGA – A vehicle that was reportedly stolen at Mangweni on Saturday has been recovered by Tonga police.

The vehicle, a Hyundai truck was reported stolen by the owner on Sunday.

According to Israel Biya 28, who is the owner of the vehicle, he had parked the vehicle next to the house inside his yard on Saturday at about 20:00 and went to sleep.

The following morning when he woke up he noticed that the car was not there and went to the police to report the matter where a case of theft of motor vehicle was then opened.

On Monday, the police found vehicle abandoned after they received a tip-off from a member of the community.

Police then acted swiftly and found the stolen truck.

Lieutenant Nyambi has thanked the community members who gave the information to the police.

“We appreciate such assistance from community members and plead with them not to touch any suspected stolen property because this might destroy possible evidence and compromise investigations.
