Lesbian learner back at school

" I was hoping that the teacher who humiliated me in front of other learners because of my sexuality, would apologise but she didn't do that ".

BARBERTON – A grade 11 learner from Kamhola Secondary School who was allegedly suspended last week for wearing trousers and being a lesbian, went back to school on Monday and everything is back to normal.

The Department of Education addressed the matter. Circuit manager, Ms Thokozile Khoza visited the school and held a meeting with the headmaster of the school, Mr Joel Ntuli.

The 17-year-old learner said:

“I am very happy that today I’m at school just like other learners. Everything is back to normal and I’m still wearing my trousers. The circuit manager also visited my mother after this whole drama and I am glad that it’s over. Now I will be focusing on my studies. I was hoping that the teacher who humiliated me in front of other learners because of my sexuality, would apologise but she didn’t do that,” she said.
