Ministry spreads warmth

"According to the Holy Scripture, Acts 2, verse 45 they sold their property and possessions to give to anyone who had need and every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts."

TEKWANE SOUTH – With the cold weather predicted for this winter season, the local Evangelical Praise and Worship Centre has taken early precautions by arming elderly citizens with blankets to keep warm.

This noble and worthy gesture by this ministry played itself out last Sunday in front of the entire congregation and invited guests.

During the handover, founder and senior apostle, Simon Hlebelo, said his church was continuing God’s work of looking out for the needy.

“According to the Holy Scripture, Acts 2, verse 45 they sold their property and possessions to give to anyone who had need and every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.

This is what motivates us as a church, to strive to look after those in need,” said Hlebelo.

“It’s part of our vision and task given to us by God. This is one of our given visions that we must look after those who are less fortunate and in need.

“We believe in that as a church, we are not just about preaching the word of God but we must live it and we must be involved in the community and look after the welfare of our children, elders and the widows,” he continued.

This church also runs a special project for orphans through which they are fed.

“We are actually looking for people who may want to help us continue God’s work, by donating food, offerings and anything that may be helpful to continue looking after the children.

“We are actually planning to build a bigger kitchen and a dining hall because the space we are currently using is too small and it becomes difficult to feed our children.

It is also problematic to feed them when it rains because there is no decent shelter,” he added.

This church recently celebrated its first decade and is growing bigger and stronger every day.

The local ward councillor, Mr Joseph Mashaba praised the church for its willingness to help the community whenever there was a crisis.

“This is one church that really cares for the community. And we can only hope and pray that all our churches in our communities will be as helpful and caring as this one,” he said.
