Traffic lights disorder causes confusion
Motorists using the D2296 road, known as the Kanyamazane Road, have since been exposed to statue robots, at the Karino intersection.

KARINO – The robots have not been working for over a week now, and it has nothing to do with the infamous load shedding.
“We have been hoping that the municipality would fix this fault, but it seems like they have turned a blind eye towards this issue. It’s
bad enough that there are no robots at Emkhatsini Sasol, now we have to deal with robots that have not been working for so long,” said one disgruntled motorist.
Another motorist weighed in on the matter, and said that the municipality seems not to take them seriously.
“There was a point where there was some police visibility around this area, there is no way the municipality would not be aware of this, maybe they are just awaiting a huge accident to claim a number of lives at once, then they would wake up and do something.
The worst part of this situation is the fact that we are not told anything. I wonder if they understand the use of social media, and the power of communication, or they just prefer it that we are literally kept in the dark,” another resident added.
Mbombela Municipality Spokesperson, Mr. Joseph Ngala, has confirmed that the municipality and the relevant parties are aware of the situation.
“We have seen that the traffic lights there are not working, and we are currently trying to find out what the matter is. Chances are, the
issue could be bigger than what we see, we suspect cable theft, but cannot confirm anything at this stage. If it is true that some cables were stolen, then fixing this could take longer than we all think, because they would have to be bought,” said Ngala.
In the meantime, motorists would just have to keep cautioning their driving and giving each other space in order to avoid accidents.
