BARBERTON – A 29 –year-old man briefly appeared in the Barberton Magistrate Court on charges of raping a three year old minor.
Mpumalanga News learnt that the suspect allegedlly raped the toddler after luring her to follow him from a certain shop around the CBD. where the child was left by her parents to play with friends while they shopping.
According to police about 15 minutes later the parents heard their daughter’s friend crying where they had left the minor and that was when the father decided to go and fetch her only to find that she was no where to be found.
A search for the child’s where about then started and she was later found by someone in the bushes near Shoprite and signs of being raped.
The suspect was arrested immediately and the child rushed to the local hospital for treatment.
