Film academy to equip young people with skills
The Mpumalanga Independent Film Academy (MIFA) will host a filming section test on Friday at Basapa Chefs College.

ACORNHOEK – Mpumalanga News learnt that the aim of having the section test is to identify talented young people in the filming industry and equip them with more skills.
The founder of MIFA, Mr Vusi Magagula stated that it’s about time for young people to rise up and shine by taking their talent to another level.
”We want to give them more training so that they can be able to take their work to another level because we are not only going to focus on theory, they will also do practicals so that they can be able to face the world with their skills and improve their lives and eradicate poverty,“ said Magagula.
The training entails scriptwriting, lights, editing and arts of pitch which is identified as a stumbling block that affects many local writers because they are failing to market themselves in a professional way.
Magagula alluded that young people of the province have talent, but the sad part is that they don’t want or are lazy to develop it.
”I don’t know whether they are ignorant or lazy, I have realised that those who have talent don’t want to develop it by gaining more knowledge and knocking on doors that might change their lives since there is a lack of job opportunities in the country. I believe that they will be able to open their own companies,” he said.
He said at the end of the training he planned to run competitions where a participant who does well will get an opportunity to be assisted in marketing his or her films on the Mzansi Magic channel. “It would be an opportunity to make our mother language Siswati to be well recognized,“ he concluded.
