MBOMBELA – The provincial commissioner Lt Gen Mark Dumisa Magadlela has been unceremoniously moved from his post just only after two years of his service in the province.
The commissioner, who has over 33 years of experience in the sector, was introduced in the province by the former national police commissioner, Ms Riah Phiyega to take over the reigns left by the then former provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Thulani Ntobela.
This happened two years ago after signing his five-year contract.
The Eastern Cape born provincial commissioner is said to have already left the province without any goodbyes. “I was with him on Friday and he didn’t say anything about his leaving. I guess it’s all politics. We don’t have to complain but to comply here,” said the source on condition of anonymity.
Trying to find out why was Magadlela moved, journalists were told by local police spokespersons that the matter was handled by the national office. When calling the national police communication officer, Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi, Mpumalanga News learnt that he was busy with preparations to call a media briefing in Pretoria on the matter. The official who answered Mulaudzi’s phone said: “Unofficially yes, but a media briefing will be called soon,” he said.
