Premier adopting DA’s job plan

According to the DA's statement, Premier Mr David Mabuza last week spoke out about how government must create a conducive environment for the private sector to create jobs.

MBOMBELA – The official opposition party in the province, Democratic Alliance is pleased that the ANC government in the province has finally acknowledged some aspects of the DA’s 5 point jobs plan, and appears to be moving to implement these aspects.

According to the DA’s statement, Premier Mr David Mabuza last week spoke out about how government must create a conducive environment for the private sector to create jobs.

“This is exactly what the DA has been advocating for, against ANC policy of state-creation of jobs. Recently the DA issued a statement on a moratorium placed on government jobs since 2011, leaving 33 000 vacant funded posts and making it difficult for those who seek employment to enter the job market.

Speaking during a premier’s infrastructure coordinating committee meeting in Mbombela last Thursday, the Premier said serious intervention is needed to speed up delivery of key infrastructure projects in the province, which is what the DA has been pushing for steadfastly.

The Premier must ensure that projects such as the Fresh Produce Market, the Cultural Hub and the High Altitude Training Centre are also given priority in order to create jobs and attract investment to the province.

This is however not enough, as red tape makes it difficult for some entrepreneurs to enter the private sector in Mpumalanga. We must create an environment where all prospective businesses can thrive in order to create employment in the province.

The Premier must give more support to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Their success is crucial to creating jobs for the people of Mpumalanga who are trapped in unemployment which fuels poverty and inequality,”read part of the DA statement.

The five points job plan are integrated infrastructure for growth, education and skills development for job creation, labour regime that supports job creation, incentives for job creation and a nation of entrepreneurs.
