No payment for Lily Mine workers yet

The future of mineworkers employed at Lily Mine looks bleak with more than 650 of them still waiting to be paid for April.

LOW’S CREEK – The future of mineworkers employed at Lily Mine looks bleak with more than 650 of them still waiting to be paid for April.

According to the workers, they were promised by the appointed business rescue practitioner that they would be paid Friday last week.

They added that talks that they will be given R650 were disturbing and they vowed to refuse the offer.

“We only depend on the income from the mine and have no other alternatives.

What is R 650 going to do for us?” questioned the workers.

They further called on the government to intervene.

Lily Mine hasn’t been functioning since the collapse that got three miners trapped underground.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
