Municipal Managers of all municipalities across the country have 14 days to call the first council meetings.
Since the IEC declared the 2016 local elections free, fair and officially over on August 06, 2016, South Africans are expecting to see Municipalities hard at work delivering services as per their mandate.
“In the Municipalities where there is no Municipal Manager, the MEC of the Province can appoint a suitable official to act in that capacity so as to be able to convene the first council meeting,” the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs said.
