MBOMBELA – The birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated by the Hindus all over the world on August 25 .

The Nelspruit Hindu Temple also celebrate and seek the blessings of the Lord for prosperity and welfare of all people at their temple.

The scriptures, Maha Bharath and Bhagavatham, portray the story of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Maha Vishnu.

Lord Krishna appeared in Mathura in 3 258 BC as the son to mother Devaki. His tyrant uncle Kamsa imprisoned his parents, usurped the throne of Mathura and reigned with cruel minister Chanura.

Krishna destroyed the tyrant and restored righteousness, peace and harmony in the land. A battle followed at Kurukshethra between the wicked King Duryodhana and his cousins, Pandavas.

Lord Krishna fought on the side of Pandavas and facilitated the annihilation of Duryodhana and his army.

Thus Krishna restored righteousness and peace in the land. He declared that such incarnation will continue whenever there is a decline of righteousness and increase of unrighteousness.
