Mpumalanga celebrates National Book Week

Mpumalanga will join the rest of the country in celebrating National Book Week from today till Friday September 11.

MBOMBELA- With the aim of instilling the culture of reading and distributing books, the department of sports, culture and recreation will engage with people at ZM Mkhwanazi Public Library in Glenmore tomorrow.

Spokesperson, Sibongile Nkosi says the campaign will be used as a platform to encourage reading as it plays an important role in shaping lives. ” We will take advantage of this opportunity to highlight the journey books travel in the country both figuratively and literally as they take us places,” says Nkosi.

The department urges people to to visit the 114 libraries in the province this week. ” Our libraries are well equipped with internet connection including WiFi hotspots. Above all, it will be a great chance to showcase South African writers, publishers, booksellers and related business, ” adds Nkosi.
