MEC worries about young smoking girls

It was revealed that almost six million people are killed due to tobacco and South Africa is ranked number four in male youths and number five in female youths who are smoking.

MBOMBELA – MEC for health, Mr Gilleon Mashigo has raised a serious concern regarding the new trend by young girls of smoking.

Speaking at the two-day World Environmental Health conference that is underway at Ingwenyama Lodge, he said it’s about time for parents to re-position themselves and guide their children. They must learn to stand their ground in terms of disciplining them when they do wrong things.

“I am concerned about the bad habit of young girls who are smoking like nobody’s business in our communities, I don’t know whether is a fashion or what,” he asked.
