Alleged speedster appears in court

BALFOUR – A 42-year-old driver was nabbed for driving at 201km /h exceeding the general speed limit of 120km/h.

He will appear for his bail application before the Grootvlei Magistrate’s Court today.

The driver of a BMW sedan was driving on the N3 freeway from Heidelberg towards Villiers when he was nabbed by the police on Saturday morning at about 07:20.

He was detained at Grootvlei Police Station. MEC Pat Ngomane of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison has warned that excessive speeding is a recipe for disaster, hence the tough approach adopted by the province.

As much as Ngomane is encouraging road safety education, he says that law breakers will be dealt with accordingly.
