Students queue to receive statements

Candidates from around the province came in their numbers to receive their exam statements from their centres.

MBOMBELA – Excitement, joy or some disappointment was visible on the faces of thousands of learners who received their 2016 matric results today.

Pupils from around the province came in their numbers to receive their exam statements from their centres. The province achieved a 77,1 per cent pass rate which is a decline from the previous year’s 79 per cent.

Some say they had already been admitted into various institutions of higher learning while other wait to see what the new year will bring.

“I applied at five universities, including the University of Mpumalanga, but was not admitted because my third-term results were bad. Now I have received year mark and hope to be admitted somewhere soon,” says Nompumelelo Mavimbela, one of the candidates.
