The conference reaffirmed and supported the decision of the SANCO National Executive Committee (NEC) of SANCO which pronounced on Mr Cyril Ramaphosa as the preferred candidate for the Presidency of the African National Congress at the ANC National Conference in December 2017.
The conference reaffirmed SANCO’s interest in the leadership of the ANC as the leader of the alliance and thus agreed that it is of utmost importance for SANCO as alliance partner to seek to influence the leadership of the ANC for as long it remains the leader of the Alliance.
They also noted that the Alliance is at its weakest state of affairs due to the continued self-haemorrhage of the ANC as the leader of the alliance mainly resulted by factions and parasitic patronage networks within the ANC and government.
The conference noted the efforts of the ANC in Mpumalanga to rebuild unity of the Alliance in Mpumalanga.
However, conference was concerned that the unity is personalised and not institutionalised. Furthermore, the unity of the alliance should be cascaded to all regions and branches of the Alliance.
It noted that the ANC as the leader of the alliance must ensure that all alliance partners are treated with equal respect, especially to stop treating SANCO like a junior ally.

“We call upon the ANC to ensure that all alliance resolutions are implemented by both the ANC as the leader of the alliance, the ANC-led Mpumalanga Provincial and Local Government as a matter of principle,” read a statement from the organisation.
SANCO also noted with concern the continued efforts to undermine the objective of economic transformation through the new monopoly created within the Scholar Transport Service which undermines and exclude local transport providers in favour of big monopolies residing outside the Mpumalanga province.
SANCO believes that Radica Economic Transformation should be in practice not in theory or slogans.
The conference further elected a Provincial Executive (PEC) of Mpumalanga Province. The elected office bearers are Chairperson: J.J. Skhosana, Deputy Chairperson: C, Mokoena, Provincial Secretary: M. Soko, Deputy Provincial Secretary: L. Dlamini, Organising Secretary: L. Ngwenyama, Treasurer: N. Mogapi, and additional members of the PEC.
