People are encouraged to take care of their health

The Department of Health took the initiative to bring services to the people of Thulamahhashe.

This was aimed at encouraging them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Mobile clinics and other health services were made available for the community members.

The Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, encouraged the youth to take extra precautions to prevent unplanned pregnancies and STIs.

“Medical check-ups for every disease is free and that is why people need to go check their health,” Motsoaledi said.

He also added that studies reveal that 5 000 females between the ages of 15 to 24 get infected with HIV every week. This leads to the death of women while giving birth and children dying before they reach the age of five. The girls were encouraged to conquer HIV/AIDS and poverty by abstaining and using contraceptives given to them by the government.
