South Africa has lost to France to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023 after the World Rugby Council vote in London.

They were competing against Ireland, France and South Africa.

The decision was made at a secret ballot earlier this morning. With 39 votes cast a simple majority of 20 was required for victory at Kensington’s Royal Garden Hotel, London.
