N4 head on collision leaves five dead

Four of the deceased were occupants in the sedan while the fifth person was the driver a bakkie.

A head-on collision that occurred yesterday, on N4 Toll Road between Malelane and Komatipoort has claimed five lives when a Light Delivery Vehicle (bakkie) and a sedan were involved.

According to Joseph Mabuza, spokesperson for the department of safety, security and community liaison. Four of the deceased were occupants in the sedan a Toyota Auris while the fifth person was the driver of the Toyota Bakkie and he was alone at the time.

“The critically injured person was rushed to Tonga hospital for medical treatment. The victims were all males. It is believed that one of the vehicles veered into the oncoming traffic leading to the crash,” said Mabuza.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
