Mduduzi Manana’s former helper withdraws assault charges against him

Reports emerged that Mduduzi Manana allegedly assaulted two women last year because one of them called him gay.

Former deputy minister of Higher Education and Training and Member of Parliament, Mduduzi Manana once again faced allegations of assault of his former domestic helper, Christine Wiro.

According to reports, she opened a case of common assault at the Douglasdale police station which she later withdrew. The helper alleged that Manana tried to push her down the stairs of his home.

In September last year, Manana was convicted of three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm after pleading guilty to the charges after he assaulted two women at a club in Johannesburg. He was ordered to undergo 500 hours of community service and pay compensation for all three victims as well as a fine of R100 000 or a year in prison.
