ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: LIBRARY SERVICES (2 Posts)
SALARY:
All-inclusive salary package of R458 326 per annum
CENTRE:

Middelburg Regional Library: Ref: 18/CSR/02
REQUIREMENTS:
Four year Degree in Library and Information Science/Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science and more than five years’ experience in library management. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the library field, as well as management theory and practices (inclusive of HR and Financial Management). Knowledge of an experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge of Library Management Systems, as applied in the library environment. Knowledge of the PFMA and library prescripts. Valid driver’s licence.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Management & administration of Nkangala and Ehlanzeni Regional libraries. Manage and monitor support service provided to public libraries. Plan the activities of the Regional Libraries, compile their annual budget, and monitor expenditure. Train, coach, mentor and supervise the Regional Librarians and ensure that staff receives training, coaching and mentoring by their supervisors. Attend to staff problems (challenges) and identify staff training needs in the region. Assess the Regional Librarian(s) and the ICT Technician. Check all staff assessments and monitor the process of assessing the staff. Monitor Mobile Library Service, consolidate monthly, quarterly and annual reports of the Regional Library. Consolidate verification reports for the Regional Library.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: LIBRARY SERVICES ICT
SALARY:
All-inclusive salary package of R458 326 per annum

REQUIREMENTS:
A Degree or National Diploma in Library and Information Service or Information Communication Technology (ICT)
and computer literacy. Five years or more experience in Information Communication Technology. Valid driver’s licence.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Manage and administer the Network Development Division of the Mpumalanga Library and Information Service
(MPLIS). Manage the provision of internet and network access and lifecycle. Maintenance of computer equipment and software as required by the Mpumalanga public libraries services.
LIBRARIAN: CIRCULATION
SALARY:
All-inclusive package of R310 457 per annum
CENTRE:
Acornhoek Library, Ref: 18/CSR/04
REQUIREMENTS:
B. Bibl Degree or Higher or equivalent Diploma in Librarianship, computer skills, general knowledge of library services, people and communication skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Administer functions of the library. Market the library services; research on user and prospective user needs; attend to circulation of library material and assist in other functions of the library where required; information storage; retrieval and reporting procedures.
LIBRARIAN: CATALOGUING (2 posts)

REQUIREMENTS:
B. Bibl Degree or higher or equivalent Diploma in Librarianship, computer skills, general knowledge of library services, people and communication skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Catalogue new library material for public libraries-Machine readable cataloguing of library material on LIMS bibliographic data base. Allocation of subject headings for non-fiction and fiction. Allocation of Dewey Classification
numbers for non-fiction. Keep cataloguing register. Monthly reports. Update the cataloguing and classification policy when necessary. Update the authority files where applicable.
LIBRARY ASSISTANT: CYBER CADET (6 posts)
SALARY:
All-inclusive package of R209 420 per annum

REQUIREMENTS:
Matric or grade 12 and IT related studies. Good verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of trouble
shooting and maintaining windows XP operating system software, an experience in IT and of working in a public
library will be an added advantage.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Assist Library users on how to do electronic information searches on CD and DVD, encyclopaedia, Internet, do searches for school projects and assignments, create e-mail accounts for library users, teach users how to connect to their mail, teach users how to produce electronic documents and other documents like CV’s business cards. Monitor workstations usage by library users, help users to do CV’s. Open files for projects, file them and update them. Administer procedures relating to libraries; filing; shelving and storage of library material; information retrieval processes; process library material and assist with other library functions as required.
GENERAL WORKER (4 Posts)
SALARY:
All-inclusive package of R147 803 per annum

REQUIREMENTS:
Standard 6 or equivalent and experience in yard keeping.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Will render gardening services (cleaning) in the library. Packaging and unpacking of information resource boxes,
loading and unloading boxes. Render messenger services and general support of library function.
