Two men burned alive in Mganduzweni mob justice attack

Two men, aged between 24 and 36, were burned to death this morning by the Mganduzweni community.

It is alleged that the men who are both related confessed to the angry community members to had killed the toddlers.  One of the suspects is the pastor of a local church.

Their homes were also burned.

Sgt Naniki Nonyane confirmed the death of the men. She condemned members of the community for taking the law into their own hands.

“What if they accused the wrong suspects? Such instances, like the burning down of suspects’ homes, jeopardise police investigations,” she said.

Yesterday two siblings aged five and six who went missing on Tuesday were found dead in bushes near a stream in Mganduzweni.

According to the children’s grandmother, Silindile (6) and her sister Nontokozo (5) left her home around 17:00 on Tuesday to visit their other granny on the other side of the village, but they never reached home.
