R538 reopened after protests

The R538 road between White River and Hazyview was barricaded with broken bottles and two busses on Monday morning.

According to the police spokesperson Colonel Mtsholi Bhembe also burning tyres and other debris were used to blockade the road.

Bhembe said police have since managed to have the road reopened and the municipal truck is busy sweeping the road, picking up the broken bottles and debris.

“Motorists are cautioned to be alert when using that road, members of the SAPS and the Municipal Law Enforcement are at the scene monitoring the situation,” he said.
