EFF celebrates eighth anniversary
The EFF’s provincial leader, Collen Sedibe, believes his organisation is ready to govern.

Sedibe said the EFF has gained not just ground, but experience as well, which will help it take the country to the next level of democracy.
“Truth be told, the EFF is the only hope for our people who are still calling for the return of their land that was stolen many years ago. We are the only and last hope for the economic freedom for our people. The EFF is now ready to govern and will change the lives of our people for the better,” he said.
He was speaking exclusively to Mpumalanga News on Monday, July 26 as the EFF officially turned eight years old.
The EFF, established in 2013 after a fallout with the ANC, has seen a steady growth with over a million supporters countrywide. The EFF is currently South Africa’s third-largest political party after the ANC and the DA.

It holds 44 seats in national parliament and is currently the official opposition party in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature with four seats.
“I would like to take this moment and wish the EFF a happy and marvellous eighth anniversary. The EFF is the only hope for the hopeless. We are turning eight after a long walk to freedom and especially to economic freedom. The EFF is the only organisation for the working class.
The EFF was formed on the basis of the sweat of the working class, the petrol attendants, the security guards, the gardeners and the domestic workers, and everyone who is still working under a capitalist system. We came a very long way, and the doomsayers were saying we would never see the light of day.
They actually said we would not last for two years, but here we are, eight years later, stronger and wiser. We have grown in numbers in terms of support and we have grown in experience.

We are now marching to our first decade and are ready to govern South Africa,” continued Sedibe.
“There are many achievements of the EFF, including fighting corruption in the government sphere both at national and provincial levels. It is the EFF that advocated against the former president, Jacob Zuma, to pay back the money for the Nkandla upgrading. It is the EFF that first exposed the Guptas for capturing the state.
“It is the EFF that ensured that the local government elections were postponed due to this Covid-19 pandemic and it is the EFF that made sure more of our people were vaccinated and vaccinated immediately.
“So the EFF is the only and last hope for the people of South Africa,” he said. Sedibe said the rise of the EFF is critical.
“The ANC is slowly dying and our people need a stronger organisation to lead them going forward, and there is no better than the EFF. Believe me when I say that we are ready to govern, and come the next elections, we will surely be there and with the help of our poor black masses,” he concluded.
