Local former SA Idols finalist is a blessing

This songstress is expecting to release her single in February.

A dark beauty, curvy, crazy and humble best define the province’s former Idols SA 13 top 16 finalist Blessing Mlangeni.

Her fans might be wondering what has happened to her, so Mpumalanga News decided to bring you a one on-one interview with this talented gospel artist and entrepreneur. Mlangeni describes herself as a tall, dark, chubby woman who knows what she wants and is determined to achieve her dreams.

She is still working on taking her music career to the next level while juggling her studies at the University of North West. She is pursuing a career in foundation phase education.

Mlangeni is passionate about all kinds of music. “I always strive to be the best at what I do. I consider myself to be one of the best musicians in the province,” she laughed.

She has worked with a number of gospel musos, including the likes of Benjamin Dube, Mahalia Buchanan, Ntokozo Mbambo, Pretty Mhlongo, Belo Mnisi, JR, Monea and Zwai Bala, to name a few. “I learned a lot from them. They are my icons in the industry,” she said.

Mlangeni is working on creating a YouTube channel on which she can connect with her fans and followers worldwide.  She also plans to visit churches around her home town to boost her fan base and give them some worship, since the lockdown restrictions regarding churches and other gatherings has slightly been relaxed.

Mlangeni is an entrepreneur in White River. She runs MaBee’s Delicious Baking and spa facilities alongside her mother, whom she refers as her greatest motivator and role model.

Her daily activities including servicing her clients, attending her voice training with her vocal trainer, studying and exercising. “By the grace of the Lord, I am doing well,” she said.

She urged the young women of Mpumalanga to pray to God and to never give up on their dreams.

“I have learned that nothing is free in life. Stay humble and do not be afraid to start over again; don’t be discouraged by past failures,” she said. “I have been through a lot myself and I am counselling myself every day to prosper in life. I’ve been at the lowest point in my life.”
