Mpumalanga SAPS welcomes over 200 police constables
The Mpumalanga SAPS welcomed 220 new police constables on Monday August 16.
The new officials were received during a ceremonial event following their recent passing out parade on Friday August 13 at the Oudtshoorn Police Academy in the Western Cape.
During her address, the provincial police commissioner, Lt Gen Semakaleng Manamela, emphasised the importance of discipline as a principle that will sustain these new members in their journey within SAPS.

The recently trained members were also cautioned by Manamela to ensure that they protect the vulnerable groups in the society, mainly women and children, more so now during the month of August, which has been dedicated to women.

“Women today continue to fight selflessly for the safety of their communities, and this is exactly like the culture within the SAPS, one of promoting selflessness, discipline and dedication. The deployment of these constables across the province are welcomed as it will increase the work force. Many of these constables are women, which is significant as the organisation is making a statement by saying women are important,” said Manamela.

“The recruitment of these members will further ensure that the quest to combat crime is realised, as they will join hands with various stakeholders in the province to advance the ultimate goal of ensuring that citizens and their property are safe.”
