T-Boy’s fans demand his return to graveyard shift

Listeners of Ligwalagwala FM have once again taken to the streets calling for the return of T-Boy to his previous slot, the graveyard shift titled "Vuka Sambe".

The talented radio presenter has been moved to a new Saturday slot called, “Sisonke Midday Grooves”.

The group of disgruntled listeners marched to the SABC-owned Ligwalagwala FM headquarters in Mbombela, where they presented their memorandum to the acting business manager, Ntfonjana Dlamini, on Tuesday.

This is not the first time the station’s listeners have staged a protest to demand that their favourite radio presenters to be allocated new time slots or be fired.

Earlier this year, they staged a protest against the public broadcaster’s decision to retrench the popular breakfast show host, DJ Madumane. After this march, DJ Madumane was reinstated and continues to host.

Future Msimango, one of the protesters and an ardent Ligwalagwala FM listener, said matters only came to this after their emails had not been responded to by the station’s management.

“We are not here because T-Boy is our friend. No, he is not our friend, but the station, Ligwalagwala FM, is. This is our station, and it belongs to the listeners. It must be noted at all times that the station doesn’t belong to the management but to us, and when we see that things are not okay, we must and will always voice out our concerns. We are here today because the response we received on several emails we sent does not make us happy,” he explained

Tonight Mapaputsi, one of the listeners, appealed to the management to treat the issue as a matter of urgency.

“We respect the station and its operations. According to us, T-boy was reshuffled by mistake. We are not against Malumane, we just want T-BOY back in that slot, because he kept us glued to the radio even in the wee hours,” he said.
