Another resident, Vusi Lukhele, said, “Our stadium is dying and it is sad to see how it has been turned into a dumping site. The youth will not take the stadium serious if it used as a dumping area. Community members are also to be blamed for not keep our stadium clean. Many young boys and girls from the streets can be saved from many things such as nyaope, crime and teenage pregnancy, only if the stadium can be used in a better way.” The spokesperson for the City of Mbombela, Joseph Ngala, said,

There was a potential sponsor that approached the City with a view to upgrade Msogwaba Stadium, but unfortunately the team was sold and had to pull out of the deal. The City has since planned to upgrade the stadium in the 2022/23 financial year. The upgrading of Msogwaba Stadium is on our priority list.”
