Annual cycling tour hits Oshoek and Mbombela
A brainchild of the ET Foundation, this cycling tour will attract scores of cyclists

The ET Foundation, in partnership with the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, will be hosting an annual cycling tour over two days from Oshoek to eManzana, then to Mbombela. This cycling tour is scheduled for April 29 and 30.
With the Ndalo Group as the platinum sponsors, this much-anticipated tour is expected to attract cyclists from across the province and neighbouring countries, such as the Kingdom of eSwatini.
ET Foundation’s secretary, Sylvia Maseko, said since the foundation had been established in 2015, the response has been overwhelming.

“The founder assisted people with various welfare needs. These needs included paying for tertiary students who could not afford tuition fees, supporting small businesses who needed financial assistance as well as mentorship, orphanages that needed clothes and non-perishable food items, and so forth.
“The foundation has been formally registered in 2021 with the aim of growing and assisting even more people. The founder has been assisting from his own pocket with no assistance from well-established institutions. The requests the foundation has been receiving from people who need help, keep rising, and this is what drove the board members to decide to register the foundation formally, since there’s a great need,” said Maseko.
“Few people consider Mpumalanga a cycling destination. This seems incomprehensible once you have been here, however.
Mountainous landscapes, excellent riding conditions, a long cycling tradition, and a growing scene that is bristling with passionate riders and mind-blowing events await cyclists in search of their next great adventure.” She said this annual cycling tour will give cyclists a different experience as it aims to provide an exciting adventure for cyclists.

“The tour will end with a gala dinner during which a prize-giving ceremony will take place. This is a charity drive and all proceeds will go towards the charity work the organisation does.

The charity drive will be done on April 28, when the organisation will be handing over a highly specialised wheelchair to a child who requested such assistance.
The organisation has built a house from scratch for a family who needed proper shelter and it will also be handed over on this day. There’s a church that is in need of sound, and the organisation will be handing over the money so that they get assistance. These are just a few activities on the day, but there’s more that will be done after the fundraising gala dinner,” Maseko concluded.
