Gold Youth Development hosts youth empowerment event in Salubindza

Eighty-five peer educators gathered for a day of learning, selling and self-discovery, thanks to a youth development initiative.

The Gold Youth Development Agency continues to make meaningful strides in shaping the future of young people in their community.

On Saturday, July 5, the organisation hosted an event at Salubindza Primary School, bringing together 85 peer educators and 10 facilitators from Khanyisani, Nkunzi and Lungisani secondary schools.

Sabelo Sibuye, one of the facilitators, said the theme of the event was resilience and responsibility, with the aim of equipping the youth with the knowledge, tools and support they need to realise their full potential and pursue their dreams.

Facilitators led an engaging session that fostered a strong sense of community empowerment, creating a space for the youth to participate openly and meaningfully.

“The event focused on entrepreneurial spirit, with participants learning by selling ice blocks, snack packs, sweets and muffins during the programme. The initiative not only promoted business skills, but also encouraged self-love, responsibility and resilience among the youth,” said Sibuye.

The programme is committed to educating and uplifting young people by promoting social behaviour change, education and job creation.
