Mpumalanga Department of Social Development invests in employees’ health
The wellness initiative focuses on various aspects of well-being, including physical and mental health.
The Mpumalanga Department of Social Development (DSD) hosted a wellness day at its Ehlanzeni District offices last Wednesday as part of an ongoing employee health initiative.
The event aimed to enhance the physical, mental and social well-being of staff – leading to improved productivity, reduced absenteeism and lowered long-term healthcare costs.
According to DSD spokesperson Kanego Thete, the wellness initiative focuses on various aspects of well-being, including physical and mental health, financial wellness, and work-life balance.
“Preventative health programmes and early intervention can help reduce health-care costs. Employees feel valued and supported when their well-being is prioritised, which improves morale and engagement,” said Thete.
“Healthy employees are less likely to be absent from work and more likely to be fully present and productive.”
