Pienaar police have launched an investigation after human remains were found near Emaphakama.

Pienaar police have launched an investigation after human remains were discovered in the bushes near Emaphakama earlier today, October 13.

The remains were discovered after concerned members of the public alerted authorities.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Sergeant Thulisile Magagula, officers were swiftly dispatched to the scene, and other relevant stakeholders were called in to assist with the initial response and evidence collection.

“Forensic experts also attended the scene, and the remains were collected for further investigation. The ongoing probe will aim to determine the identity of the person found, as well as the circumstances surrounding the discovery,” said Magagula.

She also said the police are urging anyone with a missing loved one, or who may have information that could shed light on this case, to come forward.
