Nelspruit Regional Court postpones Dr Nicholas Procter murder trial

The trial of three men accused of murdering Dr Nicholas Procter was again postponed today, Friday, (November 7).

The Nelspruit Regional Court was forced to postpone following the absence of the prosecutor due to ill health.

The three accused, Bheki Ndlovu (38), Nkateko Tshidzumba (24) and Siyabonga Kekana (20) were remanded in custody pending their next court appearance on November 14.

They face charges of kidnapping, attempted theft, theft, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

Procter (40), a doctor at Mediclinic Nelspruit, was reported missing after failing to report for duty on February 1, 2024.

Later that day, Procter’s vehicle was found, followed by the discovery of his body in a vacation unit in the Mopani block of Green Valley Estate with his hands and feet bound.

The court has thus far heard evidence from Sergeant Sthembile Phillip Zitha, who told the court that he was one of the first responders at the scene on that day.

Zitha’s testimony, which began on October 22, was cut short as the court session ended and the accused were returned to custody.
