Galaxy remains the only unbeaten side in this 2022/23 campaign

The resurrected Rockets are the only team that have not conceded a goal in five matches.

TS Galaxy and Chippa United played out to a stalemate on Wednesday night, August 24, in Qheberha.
The Rockets increased their unbeaten streak after five outings in the 2022/23 season.

The resurrected Rockets are the only team that have not conceded a goal this DStv Premiership season.

They took on the struggling yet unpredictable Chilli Boys, who came looking for vengeance for last season’s defeat by The Rockets in the last game of the season.

The Chilli Boys have two losses and two draws, and one win over the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates.

The Rockets were the favourites to win the match as they dominated possession in both halves and caused a lot of havoc for the Chilli Boys’ goalkeeper, Sipho Chaine.

They have been among the better teams this season after barely avoiding relegation on the final day of the previous season, beating Chippa United with a lone goal by Given Msimango in added time.

They have had a five-game unbeaten streak to open the season, with wins over Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United, while drawing the other three contests.

They also introduced their new signing from Mamelodi Sundowns, Keletso Makgalwa.

Makgalwa caused havoc with his runs behind the Chippa United’s defence.

Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi has made a blistering start to the new season and continued with his splendid record of giving strikers a tough time scoring, but with no luck of a national team call-up. Buthelezi, the marvellous star goalie, has obtained five clean sheets in 450 minutes played on the trot, making him the only goalie that has not conceded a goal.

“Melusi has been in scintillating form. He is by far the best goalkeeper in South Africa currently. Numbers don’t lie. He has kept 12 clean sheets in 2022, which is the most by any keeper in South Africa this year. If there is one player that deserves to scoop the player of the month gong, it is none other than Buthelezi.
He has earned it. Five clean sheets on the trot. The boy is destined for greatness. A Bafana Bafana call-up is also not far for him. Age is still on his side. This is good for South African football,” said the club’s spokesperson, Minenhle Mkhize.

Galaxy dropped to fifth place on the log with nine points after five games.

They will host the unpredictable Cape Town City at Mbombela Stadium on September 3.

The Citizens have recently had a convincing win over the glamour boys, Kaizer Chiefs.
