Thaba Chweu Local Municipality warns community of fake job advert

On the advert, the name of the person for enquiries and the closing date have been tampered with, and the font type and size are different from the rest.

Thaba Chweu Local Municipality has warned residents not to fall victim to a fake job advertisement circulating on social media.

The fake advert used the recent employment advertisement issued by the municipality, which also appeared in the local newspaper, Steelburger/Lydenburg News.

According to the municipality, the fake advertisement states the contact person is a Mr George Maphanga and that the closing date for applications is September 30.

“The public must note that on the original and official advert issued by the municipality, Mrs CG Dippenaar has been listed as the contact person for enquiries, and September 9 is the closing date for applications,” read the statement from the municipality.

The public and job seekers are being warned to be vigilant to avoid falling victim to what clearly appears to be a scam.
