The Ingoma Festival celebrated and showcased African cultures and heritage through colourful splendour in the eMalahleni Civic Hall on Saturday (September 17).

This was hosted by the Mpumalanga Department of Education through its Curriculum Enrichment Programme.
There were various special, primary and secondary schools from the four districts of the province participating through song and dance.

The MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba, extended his sincere appreciation to all participants and the organisers of the festival.

“Music, known as the universal language of man, can lessen our stress, pain, struggles and distractions, and bring positive calmness in our daily life. It is therapeutic and as powerful as any medicinal therapy. This has been expressed in religion over the decades. Worshippers through song and dance seek divine intervention and spiritual purity, attesting to the fact that music is capable of healing and transforming minds and beliefs.”
Majuba said he appreciated everyone who worked towards the success of this event.
