Kamagugu Inclusive School principal Elmom Masane Jomo won the Excellence in Inclusive Education Leadership category at the 2026 National Teaching Awards Provincial Ceremony on Friday, September 4.
The event took place at the Nkangala District Banquet Hall.

This recognition celebrates a leader who understands that every learner matters, every ability has value, and every child deserves the opportunity to learn, participate and thrive.

According to the Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE), through his commitment to inclusive education, Jomo continues to help create learning spaces where learners with disabilities are recognised for their abilities, potential, dreams and aspirations.

Empowering learners with disabilities

His leadership is about creating a culture of belonging, dignity, respect, care and equal opportunity.
It is about ensuring that no learner feels left behind, overlooked or forgotten and that every learner is embraced as an important part of the education family.

Jomo’s achievement is a powerful reminder that true educational leadership is measured by the lives touched, the barriers removed and the hope instilled.

DoE spokesperson Gerald Sambo said they celebrate his passion, compassion and commitment to building an education system in which diversity is embraced, differences are respected, and every learner is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
