Middelburg’s musical movement aspires to make gospel hits

Writer's Worship released a single recently titled "Khaya Lam" and is currently working on their album with great South African gospel musicians.

Writer’s Worship is a distinctive musical movement that is all about collaborative work among established and aspiring gospel artists.
The movement’s collaborations with various artists have birthed authentic music based on the gospel and filled with the Holy Spirit, such as the latest song, “Khaya Lam”.

The project manager, Nonkolo Memoka, said they are excited to recently have released this title.

“This song is derived from the Scriptures, Revelations 21 and John 14, verses one and two. The song was written a few years ago, and was only recorded this year. It is finally released on all digital streaming platforms,” he said.

The song is sung by the gospel music giant Takie Ndou and local aspiring musician Lindo Zwane, who according to Memoka complement each other very well.

“We have released five songs already with music giants such as Putuma Tiso, Takie Ndou, Unathi Mzekeli and Musa Yende. We have recorded two other songs with our local musicians, Lindo Zwane and Cleopatra Ncongwane,” Memoka said.

Most of the music offering is written by the founder of the Writer’s Worship, Premature Themba Sithole. His interesting skill of writing comes from a poetry background. “I was part of a poetry movement called Liberate Poets in Mhluzi.

“I was also an actor and a worship team leader at my church, which made me fall in love with music writing and the power of expressing my relationship with God through music,” Sithole said.

He said he saw a need to enhance his knowledge in the music industry and create an opportunity for upcoming artists to achieve their dreams.

“God has just been on the move from the beginning since the movement was established four years ago. I believe God will guide my steps to grow this movement and become the best platform for artists to showcase their talents and love for God,” he said.

The musicians are currently working towards their debut album, which is aimed at changing lives around the country through music.

Memoka said the Middelburg community has showed great support towards the movement.

“We believe we have changed the scope of the music industry not only in Middelburg, but around the country, because no one does what we do. The collaborations focus on helping those artists who need a little push, and that has brought a different taste to the industry.”

Memoka said Writer’s Worship music is available on digital streaming platforms such as Spotify, YouTube and iTunes.
