Miss Hazyview 2023/24 auditions a success

Miss Hazyview's main goal is to provide an empowerment programme for young women in Hazyview and surrounding areas. The main event will be held at Lowveld. Mall on October 12.

The ABM Foundation, in partnership with Lowveld Mall, hosted auditions for the 10th Miss Hazyview pageant, for 2023/24,
on July 1.

According to the organiser of the pageant, Billy Brown, the auditions were a success with more categories added such as Miss Teen Hazyview, Miss Pre-Teen Hazyview and Little Miss Hazyview. He also said this pageant is a girl child empowerment programme for young women around Hazyview and surrounding areas.

“This platform allows young women to grow in confidence, discover themselves and their strengths, and be encouraged to become socially conscious members of their communities.

“As the ABM Foundation, we are an organisation that drives community upliftment projects, social cohesion, volunteerism, and male and female empowerment,” he said. Lowveld Mall joined forces with the ABM Foundation to make a difference in the communities surrounding the mall and in a girl’s life.

“We appreciate the support and it shows that they care about the life of a girl child and their customers who are using the mall for shopping, because it’s part of giving back to the community,” Brown said.

Anyone between the ages of five and 26 can enter Miss Hazyview, as long as they are from the Lowveld. It is, however, not open to mothers.

During this latest audition, 120 girls entered. Successful candidates and semi-finalists will receive votes from the public and the most-voted-for contestants will receive automatic spots in the top five.

The crowning will take place at Lowveld Mall on October 12.
