First day of school brings joy to Grade 1 learners at John Mdluli Primary in Matsafeni

The Grade 1 learners at John Mdluli Primary School enjoyed their first day of school.

It was a day filled with tears and laughter as the Grade 1 learners started their journey in “Big School”.
Parents went out in numbers to support their kids on their first day of school at John Mdluli Primary School on Wednesday January 17.

All dressed up in their school uniforms and carrying their bags, these learners were among those throughout South Africa who started the 2024 academic year. Some kids where sad to see their parents leave and some were happy to finally be in school.

The MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba, accompanied by the deputy minister of basic education, Dr Reginah Mhaule, the provincial commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, and other officials, visited Moduping Secondary School on Wednesday.

According to the Department of Education, this visit was part of the department’s efforts to monitor the first day of the 2024 academic year.
