Beware of fake Facebook account impersonating Nkomazi Local Municipality’s speaker
Facebook users are cautioned not to give any money to the person behind this bogus account in exchange for jobs. It insists on the proper channels being followed as far as employments are concerned.
The Nkomazi Local Municipality’s (NLM) spokesperson, Cyril Ripinga, has warned the residents not to fall victim to a phoney Facebook profile impersonating the NLM speaker, Hildah Nyambi-Sambo.
The imposter has been sending direct messages to people to ask them for money and promise jobs to some.

“It was brought to our attention that a person posing as the speaker of the municipality has been promising people jobs in admin, security and human resources. We urge people not to fall victim to this and not to send any money to this account. The municipality has not advertised any posts at the moment, and even if that were the case, there are proper channels known to all that should be followed. We do not sell jobs at the municipality,” said Ripinga.

“In one of the messages we have been picked up, the scammer writes in isiZulu and has asked the person to contact a certain Mr Nkwane as the municipal manager. We have also noticed that the account says the person was born in 1995, which is another major giveaway. We urge the people to be vigilant and exercise caution when dealing with social media, because as much as some people use it for good, some use it to easily scam people.”
