KaNyamazane man starts movement for game changers
Nkosana Nyoni said his movement seeks to uplift the community with safety measures and to create awareness about issues facing the people.
A movement called the KaNyamazane Community Game Changers, founded by Nkosana Nyoni (30) in November last year, aims to tackle issues faced by the Nsikazi communities head-on.
Nyoni said he came up with the idea as part of taking a stand against crime and to encourage young people to do better for themselves, which in turn will benefit their communities.
“There are various community members who are part of the movement. We mobilise to bring about a better change for ourselves and to create safety and security structures that will help us to hand over the wrongdoers in our community to the authorities and to be able to raise funds to support the youth and the unemployed.”

He said they are faced with a number of issues in Likazi, such as discrimination against persons with disabilities, albinism and gender-based violence. However, the group aims to create awareness against such matters as part of rebuilding the community.
Nyoni is a traditional healer who is passionate about community development and upliftment. He is a radio presenter on KRadio for an evening show that tackles all there is to know about ubungoma, and a YouTube podcaster of the Asikhulume podcast that focuses on topics affecting KaNyamazane, along with vocal residents.

“Part of the plans ahead for 2024 and the future is to involve local entrepreneurs and businesses to the movement so that youngsters can learn from them. We will be involved in school outreach campaigns and community donations to underprivileged households as well. We hope we will encourage other communities such as KaBokweni and Pienaar to form movements to tackle issues experienced on a daily basis,” Nyoni said.
