Mpumalanga’s Phumla Music duos with KiDX for new hit single

The song was inspired by a personal experience of one of the musicians and is already available on streaming platforms.

“Buyelekhaya”, a new song by Mpumalanga’s multi-award-winning musicians, Phumla Music, real name Phumla Nkomo, and Bonginkosi Mahlangu, professionally known as KiDX, dropped officially on Friday March 29.

“The song is about a woman who longs for her husband to come back home after being away for a long time because of work. The woman misses the love of her life who no longer pays attention to his home he had left behind,” Nkomo said.

She said she recorded the song alone and sent it to KiDX to add his touch, and it was a beautiful experience to work with him. “KiDX comes in as the husband, explaining why he has been away for so long, hustling for a better future for his family. His verse is meant to reassure the wife that he still loves her and will be back home. The song will resonate with partners in long-distance relationships.”

Nkomo said she wrote “Buyelekhaya” based on a personal experience when her partner was away for work and she could not join him. She hoped it helps people reconnect with their loved ones.

The musicians managed to meet up to shoot the music video, which is already released on YouTube and airing on various TV music channels.

This song preceeds Nkomo’s solo album, Bavulele, to be released mid-year, featuring three collaborations with talented musicians. “It is a beautiful project and actually one of the best. I wanted to channel and showcase the Phumla I was before being in a music duo, PM², with Passion Master. There will be more songs released prior to the album such as the album’s title song ‘Bavulele’.”
