A rapper and songwriter from KwaMhlushwa, Noxolo Mongwe, stage name Nox C, released a new song, “Ingelozi”, and said she hopes it will be a smash hit.
She said the song is a fresh taste of hip-hop and is about a young lady who has a crush on a guy who does not notice her. She dropped the song on Tuesday April 16.

The rising star said she is looking forward to dropping her first-ever EP before the end of this year.
“I am not ready yet to release a full album, but will be in due time. The EP will definitely showcase my love of hip-hop music, and I hope it will tell my story in a unique way.”

Mongwe ventured into music in 2010 and was inspired by the likes of the late Tupac and the Black Eyed Peas. “I also drew inspiration from my uncle, Ronald Masuku, who introduced me to hip-hop music and took me along to hip-hop-inspired venues and events. However, I started singing when I was 10, and then fell in love with hip-hop and trap music.”

Mongwe said being a female rapper made her feel unique; being able to showcase herself in what was then a male-dominated industry.

In 2012, she got the chance to release her first single, “Rollercoaster”, in which she proved to herself that she can write music. “Some of the highlights as a rapper include being a semi-finalist on eTV’s Shiz Niz Hip-hop Mixtape Competition in 2013 and being part of the mixtape that won an award in the South Africa Hip-hop Music Awards. I was awarded the Best Hip-hop Artist for 2021 and 2022 in the Mzansi Arts and Media Awards and became the Mbombela Artist of the Year for 2022 and 2023 in the Mpumalanga Hip-hop Awards,” she said.

“It was amazing to be honoured and recognised in my home province. This means I am doing well, and it is a motivation to never give up on making good music as a female Siswati rapper.”
