Deputy minister and MEC for health conduct an awareness campaign in Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality

The deputy minister of health and the Mpumalanga MEC for health interacted with the community and raised awareness on some diseases and on living a healthy lifestyle.

The deputy minister of health, Dr Siboniseni Dhlomo, and the Mpumalanga MEC for health, Sasekani Manzini, conducted an awareness programme on non-communicable diseases and a healthy lifestyle campaign at Libangeni Stadium in Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality. These events took place on Friday April 26.

Community members attended these events and participated in the activities of the day.

The Department of Health’s spokesperson, Dumisani Malamule, said promoting prevention, education, early detection, early diagnosis and early access to healthcare will alleviate these diseases.

Dhlomo and Manzini led the door-to-door health screening in the village and later participated in aerobics to promote a healthy lifestyle before the formal programme.

“The traditional health practitioners received certificates after they were trained by the DoH on non-communicable diseases and hypertension testing. The testing kits given to the traditional health practitioners were donated by AstraZaneca.”
